FOOD IN MARRAKECH

Visit (1230 times)

It needs to be said straight off, if you're not a fan of cumin and cinnamon or turmeric, you're going to find eating traditional Moroccan food a struggle without doubt. The spices make an appearance in almost all traditional and even non-traditional dishes! (Including pizza and sandwiches!) If you do happen to ask for your meal without the added spices, be well prepared for confused looks and banter from the waiters who wont understand why you would make such a decision.

There are, of course, ways to enjoy traditional Moroccan cuisine whatever your taste is. Tagine gives all meat lovers a taste of Morocco with its blend of marinated meat with spices, flavours and ingredients that will make your mouth water, all cooked and served in a traditional tagine pot. Very authentic and a must for all those seeking cultural experiences. Then there is the ever-popular cous cous dish that comes in all sorts of varieties to suit meat lovers and vegetarians alike, working as a quick snack or a full meal depending on portions and condiments. Both these traditional dishes must be tried on a visit to Marrakech so try to avoid the tourist pizza and wrap menus. Morocco is not the place for western foods. If tagine and cous cous are not to your taste, Morocco offers countless varieties of kebabs and other chicken, meat or vegetarian dishes all cooked with a range of ingredients that make the food in Morocco, the reason some people go. Whether it is an up-scale restaurant you're dining in, or if you're sitting on the benches in the hectic Djemaa el Fna food market, the flavours of what you will devour will make every eating experience a memorable one.
Be sure to try out the Night Out In Marrakech: Fantasia Dinner and Moroccan Folklore experience for a mixture of traditional Moroccan food and entertainment including a belly dance! Or perhaps highlight your holiday with the Dinner in the old Medina of Marrakech and dine within a palace that will intrigue you with its rich heritage and culture. An experience that will stay with you forever.
